The Emerald Dragon

'The Emerald Dragon and other magical tales of the Quantock and Blackdown hills'' is an exciting book of stories based in these locations by storyteller Clare Viner.

'Once there was a woman who had nothing in the world but a little magic in the tips of her fingers.'

This is Clare's first book and has been developed through the oral tradition. First the stories were told and discovered in the green hills of these magical locations, so many people wanted to hear the stories again, " Where can we read these stories?" was a question asked so many times.

'It seemed sad that only a few should hear these stories, to finally write them down was the best way to make them accessible to more people.'

Follow the journey of a mother and daughter as they walk through the Blackdown and Quantock hills on a quest to find the magic of the Emerald Dragon. As they walk, passing familiar landmarks and villages along the way, the mother tells her daughter tales of the landscape. You will meet the wolves from the river Wolf, troublesome pixies from Clayhidon, the black dog of Bicknoller and of course...the majestic Emerald Dragon of the Quantock hills.

This book came about through several years of storywalks on the Blackdown and Quantock hills. Clare researched and developed stories based on local folktales. In 2012 she received funding from the Sustainable Development Funds of the Quantock and Blackdown hills
AONB's.

The books is charmingly illustrated by the author's sister, Georgie Grant.
